The Very Start of my Novel.
‘Out of breath and almost completely exhausted, the wolf spotted the clearing at the edge of the dense forest. She slowed her pace to a leisurely walk. Her fur was a mess and knotted with burrs and nettles. She had finally reached her destination. She stopped short of the border that separated the forest and the clearing. She looked all around for signs of danger before spotting the glistening pool. When she was positive that she was alone she cautiously approached the pool directly in the center of the clearing. The water playfully teasing her, lapping at the shore line. The smell enticing her to take a drink. ‘Just a taste.’ She could here it calling to her. But she knew better. She kicked a small pebble up with her paw and watched as it hovered for a split second over the water before flash of scaly fury snatched it out of the air. These waters were inhabited by the fiercest of flesh eating fish. They could pick the wolf’s carcass clean in less than three minutes. She took a step back, pausing just a moment, before walking clock wise twice around the entire pool. The second time she had her nose to the ground sniffing for the one spot that would smell like the sweetest rose one could have ever sniffed in an entire life time. Three quarters around the pool she caught the scent she had been hoping to find. Never in all the centuries of her existence had she ever smelt such an … scent. It was there, that she had started to dig. She dug a small reservoir with a little spout leading to the pool. The cool water filled the make shift channel that she had dug and filled her little bowl. It was now safe for her to drink. The sweet nectar filled her mouth, her tongue tingled with pleasure. It truly was the best tasting water that she had ever had the pleasure of drinking. As she drank her fill, the center of the pool started to bubble and froth. She paid no attention to it, as she had expected it to happen.
Out of the center of the pool a beautiful woman emerged. Her long red hair covering her soft naked body. Her eyes were closed. It looked as if she could be a sleeping angel just floating there slightly above the now calm and very still waters. The wolf finally lifted her head from the little drinking pool that had now refilled with water, and looked at the woman. She took in all of the sight. Noting every detail as she looked up and down the sleek slender body of the Goddess. Her hair was plaited with flowers of every kind and color and all of the … known to mankind. Her bangs parted gently in the middle to reveal the crescent moon circlet that adorned her forehead. She shimmered and glittered with all the beauty that existed in the world. She glowed with all that was positive and good. She was the mother. The wolf’s eyes at last came to rest on the woman’s face. Her skin looked as if it was made of the finest white silk spun by the fairies that lived in the surrounding woods. Her lips were the deepest shade of blood red. A soft whisper came from behind the wolf making her jump and look behind her. “What is the name of … seeks my council?’, the whisper asked. The wolf turned back to look at the woman in the pool. Her eyes were open now. They were the purest emerald green through and through. She had no whites, no iris’, no pupils. Just solid green. A chill ran up the wolf’s spine, that made all of her blue tipped silver fur stand on end. “My name is Cailleach, My Lady.”, the wolf answered. Her voice steadier than the rest of her. She was shaking. “Why did you come here?”, the Goddess asked. Cailleach started to shake even harder than before. “Lady Lilith, I need your help. I have lost who I am.” “I can not help you, … Goddess responded and with the brightest flash of white light, she was gone.’
Alissia woke up in a cold sweat again. She had the same dream every night for the last year.
