I am very committed to my career. My irregular and somewhat infrequent home time does not really foster relationship's very well.
Case and point: last girlfriend was three years ago. Went out when I was home. All was great. Went out on the boat for a month. Called her twice. I usually don't call home when I'm navigating my vessel, because I don't want to have an industrial accident, and kill 13 people including myself. Silly, I know! So I get off the boat and get to the house at 4:30 a.m. Id been up 19 hours. I crash out exhausted. Girlfriend comes busting up in my house like the Coolaid Man. She's screaming at me because I didn't call her. Getting 4 hours of sleep and waking up to a screaming woman is not a good time. Doesn't turn me on at all actually. I told her I would talk to her when I was rested and she was calmed down. Then she give me the "my way or the highway" ultimatum. It was a no brainer. I slept another 9 hours a wrote off the girlfriend.........
